Christy Wiesenhahn studied painting in the BFA program at Indiana
University and art education. She started working with glass about 19
years ago after taking an introductory class with Alice Sesak in Miller
Beach, Indiana. Glass and painting usually take turns in her artistic
life. At times she works primarily as a painter, traveling with her
watercolors and creating oil paintings in her studio. And for periods,
glass will be her primary medium as she works out designs and how light
interacts with dueling and friendly colors. Her biggest goal in the
upcoming years is to merge the two disciplines and work with glass in
public art. In the summer of 2014, she completed a skateable interactive
sculpture in the Peru, Indiana Skatepark that incorporates glass
mosaics and a 5' steel skateboard with embedded glass.
